my taste runs to manic and overwhelming cuteness at times, but these pictures by the artists known as Noferin really walk the line between overwhelming sweetness and eerie, wistful meloncholia. now my laptop wallpaper is a window into a world of cherry-blossoms, windswept trees and curiously unmenacing monsters.

also, no-one would have thought to combine crochet, cake and bears to such effect, but Amigurumi Kingdom's prolific works of minscule gorgeousness are notching up an iconic Flickr presence (seriously, like everyone's favorites page!). thanks to Ryanair i have only one ball of wool in my craft drawer, but its a suitably fuzzy lilac shade, so i might attempt one of their designs- wouldnt a cupcake bear (or three!) be cool strung on pearls as a super-kawaii charm necklace?
they also made the worlds sweetest bat!and finally.. Not Eating Out in New York is a rather amazing food blog where one girl recreates all sorts of interesting food experiments and restaurant dishes at home, in edible protest against corporate greed. the tagline is 'consuming less, eating more', and she makes a very persuasive point (particularly in the case of ice-cream makers...wow..)
ps. ok, now thanks to last night's futile craft burst i have a cupcake bear- but no beads or thread to give it a face! this is sad, really it is:( gonna have to visit the John Lewis craft department again..
