a cookie as big as the Ritz

last night i got back just in time for the end of Tim's 21st birth-tag (he's genuinely old now, old enough to THINK INDEPENDENTLY ABOUT RUSSIAN SEMANTICS..). i missed the meal despite having rushed back through town, and after sixteen train stops and a day of adventures up and down the Central Line (taking in green tea fro-yo, Lacan and short story-writing, quince paste, Helvetica wallpaper and fashion blogging.. gosh it was a busy day, more on this soon!)

the party started at the St John's Chop-House, then decamped to Thompson's Lane. almost all of Tim's presents were food-related and marvellously inventive. the photo above is an enormous cookie- not really done justice by my camera, but its bigger than a dinner plate- and below you can make out the pop-up OTT card Beth found. the picture would be better had i not drunk a load of coffee to stay awake, and if the card itself maybe didnt have so many moving parts....:) its enormous and inspired, and i have no idea where one might find such things on sale.
it was a lovely laidback kind of night, involving head massages and attempts to burn the Pope. just what we all need right now in the middle of all this head-cramming.

reminds me of back when i used to go out, and actually had a life instead of a stack of books waiting to be read on my desk.
sigh.
two more weeks, dudes. two more weeks...
