when i started getting back pains from sitting at a desk all day i knew it was time for action. so this week has been all about the early-morning runs. i say runs, but really they're more half-runs, run out of breath and then walk the rest back. but on sunny days its been really nice, i just choose a direction and go with it out into the suburbs or along the river til i get tired. you get to see the un-collegey side of Cambridge that we usually ignore.
here i am somewhere along the river that i'd never seen before. somewhere north of 'Impington', and looking rather tired at this point..
and oh the sights i've seen; country roads, rowing races, multiple branches of Tesco. oh and the Green Party over here doesn't seem to be taken seriously. aside from this hand-written effort (pictured below), i've noticed other houses with tiny little posters stuck on tooth-picks, decorating their window boxes.
i suppose in politics every little helps, and their methods do have the appeal of being self-illustrating. though i'd say crazy Guy Fawkes dude's campaign is at least a bit more memorable:)
aside from that and all the usual study doom and gloom, here are SOME LINKS, DAHLINGS!
this guy is one year older than me and quite the hero..
these shoes are reduced to £40 (£36 with the student discount!), and though that still seems steep, and they're really more of a winter boot, im tempted, very tempted.
i'm locked in a library battle trying to understand this guy
having seen this tshirt online, i got intrigued by the Weezy quote and tracked down his second album. i found this fabulous video featuring a barely-tattooed Wayne, crappy production values and the lyric 'I got cake like everyday is my birthday'. BRING BACK THE MANNY FRESH! aah early-era Wayne.. legendary..
and finally
Nubby Twiglet always has really fascinating links, most often in typographical vein:) but yesterday she mentioned the British Pathé archives, and, WOW. a century of news footage, on anything, ANYTHING you can think of. useful for the visual culture paper, but also just endlessly distracting. this clip reporting the death of Marilyn Monroe was uber-interesting.
